Filet Mignon and Large Scallops
Today I made a large filet mignon with large scallops! Just finished eating them… turned out great. I put garlic powder and melted butter on both… and added paprika to the tops of the large scallops for color. Broiled them both in my oven. The scallops were done in 10 minutes… pulled them out in 12 minutes and were 2 minutes over cooked I think. The steak I had to pop in for another 6 minutes… it was a big filet mignon… meanwhile, I ate the scallops while I waited for the filet to get done. After cooking the filet mignon for 16 minutes… it was perfect and tasted great. My darn smoke detector in the hallway kept going beep beep beep… fire fire… beep beep beep. I had a fan blowing the whole time down the hallway, and the fan above the stove was on as well… but the smoke detector still kept going beep beep beep… while I am trying to enjoy eating my steak. I finally opened a door to let the smoke out. I think the problem was I left the broiling pan IN the oven after cooking the steak and scallops… instead of taking it out and putting it on top of the stove… I did that because it was smoking from the butter… so ‘I thought’ leaving it in the oven would be best… but was not. As I type this, the plate is in the dishwasher, and I’m ready to start working on my website some more tonight.
