STORY BEHIND THE LYRICS: From James Limborg: "When I was writing the lyrics to this song, I imagined being at an outdoor hockey game, at night with the bright lights shining down on the hockey rink. The reverb on the snare drum rim shot reminds me of a hockey player hitting a slap shot (The sound it makes). I imagined walking around seeing a lot of people having a good time, but also seeing some people all alone, staring into space, feeling bad about their recent break-up. Also noticing them looking around, probably thinking to themselves, he has her, she has him, how come I don't have anyone." SONG LYRICS (By James Limborg): INTRO: How come I don't have anyone? Great instrumentation and performed very tight. Boy Bands Beware!! The vocals are delivered sincerely and perfectly for this song. The writing is very tasteful if not a little corny... but that is exactly what this song needed... adolescent angst. Everything you wanted to get into the song is there I feel and you did a very good job of recording and getting all those ideas in and in place. Very enjoyable and fun song."
By Harry Baggs, 3/5/2005 Public surfer at www.MixPosure.com "Cabin Fever & Multi-FX, I usually try to avoid sappy, Rock ballads - especially if it's got an EVH/Mainstreem tag associated...but I liked James' inspiration for this song...so I figured I'd give it a shot. Boy - was I surprised. Not sappy at all, and the EVH signature was well behaved. Seems what we have here is an extremely talented (and experienced) multi-musician, with a great sense of production, arrangement, and fun under his belt. He probably "don't have anyone"...because he's snowbound in a MINN studio "creating" interesting listening experiences like this. HIDHA is pure ear candy and aural excitement. It's more than a song..it's a sound experience. It's like taking your ears to an amusement park. Never a dull moment. Excellent musicianship, clever construction, the perfect combination of words, and non-stop fun. His use of effects is brilliant and refreshing. This was a joy to listen to! Somehow, I can't picture anyone getting "emotional" listening to this. It's more like a celebration of "being alone" (LOL!). Great job Jim!" ORIGINALITY: 10, PRODUCTION: 8, STRUCTURE: 8, TALENT: 8.
This song was recorded in 2002 at my old house address 3947 Big Fox Road, Gem Lake, Minnesota 55110 (Photo on RIGHT). I recently remixed this song on March 8th, 2005 where I'm currently living in Roseville, Minnesota. The last song I wrote and recorded titled Red, White and Green gave me some mixing idea's for this, previously recorded, song titled How Come I Don't Have Anyone.
